Dear Mr. Bottomley,

I saw a letter from Mr. A. Carter to Miller

this morning and it struck me

although I may be

mistaken he did not seem at all keen on getting

an appointment with us.

Anyhow, I am afraid there is very little

chance of his being offered one, because we are al-

ready so overwhelmed with applicants whose qualifi-

cation are really excellent and of the required sort.

I do not think that it would be much use if

Mr. Carter did come up, because

as he himself admits

he is not well qualified for a post as Manager, and of

course he would not accept a Registration Clerkship.
